We cannot keep damaging the environment more than it can repair itself, we must find ways of diminishing our powerful impact on the world around us, and stop this onslaught, that we have to race to get there first and take as much as we can… The fool is upon us,… we’re just ransackers, we’re not really acting responsibly

I am afraid that these last 100 years of oil and gasoline will last for many more. Look at the infrastructure that is built around the oil business. OIL is the enemy of Mother Nature. The most profitable business on the planet. Its not going down without a huge fight. But I’m ready.

All the fossil fuel megacorps are essentially forcing the planet to commit slow-motion suicide so they can reap enormous profits. They have no conscience or remorse. If they ever think twice about their actions and the consequences, or question their own motives or ethics, it is not at all apparent. In effect, they exhibit sociopathic behavior–totally obsessed by their own compulsions and needs and heedless about damages. At the very least, they are caught in a whirlpool of capitalism that will not allow escape and other uses of their dollars that does not threaten the lives of millions and vast property and environmental damage. TransCanadaExxonBPMasseyKoch clearly will not evolve to different behavior on their own until every last resource within their grasp is extracted. It’s one thing to grow and harvest when there is great abundance. But clean air and water, among other precious resources, are no longer limitless, and what remains DO NOT BELONG TO FOSSIL FUEL INTERESTS. It’s time for fierce determination and unyielding wisdom. It’s time again for some classic 1960s slogans of protest. We will not be moved. The whole world is watching.

A wonderful video and one of hope. As the “Clean Coal” commercials pollute the TV media, I will remember you people and also write letters of protest to the Clean Coal lobby and to my congressmen/women. Thanks again! Until Americans realize we have a special interest government catering to the highest bidder our votes are meaningless.

Getting Oil from the Tar Sands of Canada is the dirtiest way to get oil and is destroying pristing habitat at an unstainable rate. NO TO TAR SANDS!!!!!
Getting dirty Coal from Mountaintop removal is destroying whole watersheds at an unsustainable rate.

There is NO reason to deny the need for paradigm shift in energy policy and consumption. We gave fossil fuels about a century of culture bringing on fast/junk food, infrastructure at the loss of habitat, wars and greedy foreign policy practices, now we see repetitive floods, drought, heat waves, intense hurricanes, etc. Onward to the future is what American history is based on…what’s the hold-up?

briefly, the film makes me realize I can’t sit by and around…like the 70 yr-old from OK, my age cohort, I’ve got to be able to say we tried. How did we come to believe we owned the earth and its creatures? religion? capitalism? maybe not only capitalism as other so-called systems don’t do much better. No time to figure it out, only to protest
